Common questions
Do I need an account?
No. CalTrak has no accounts and no sign-in. Your CalTrak app data is stored locally on your device.
Where is my data stored?
Your food log, goals and measurements are stored on your device. Online lookup, AI, meal-link sharing and submitted feedback send the information needed for those features; see our privacy policy.
I scanned a barcode and the calories look wrong.
Some barcodes have inaccurate community-submitted nutrition data in the public databases. Tap the entry to edit the values — your correction is remembered for next time.
How do I move my data to another phone?
Use CalTrak’s backup export to save a JSON file, then import that file on the new install. The backup format works between iOS and Android. Your CalTrak data does not auto-sync between devices.
Can I change the bundled food databases?
CalTrak uses Open Food Facts (barcodes), FatSecret/USDA (text search), and Google Gemini (AI lookup, including photo-based lookup). The choice is automatic — we use whichever has the most accurate data for your query.
Does CalTrak work without internet?
Yes — for logging foods you’ve already used and viewing your history. Barcode scans, search, and AI lookups need internet because they query external databases.
How do I delete my data?
Delete the app — your CalTrak app data is removed from the device. Health data already written to Apple Health or Health Connect is managed separately in that service’s settings. Submitted feedback and shared meal links are separate from local app data; contact us about information you have submitted. Delete any exported JSON backups separately wherever you saved them.

See our privacy policy for details. Barcode, search and AI features use online services. Selected images, documents and follow-up text are sent when you use those AI features. Temporary caches, service metrics, shared meals and submitted feedback have different retention periods, explained in the policy.
