MyFitnessPal is the calorie tracker most people have heard of. It has a huge food database and years of features. It also puts barcode scanning, photo logging and custom macro goals behind a subscription. CalTrak has all three for free.
I checked MyFitnessPal's premium page, privacy policy and US App Store listing on November 3, 2026. Prices and features change, so check their current terms. If something here is out of date, email support@caltrak.app and I'll fix it.

Privacy
MyFitnessPal's privacy policy (effective March 18, 2025) says it shares information with marketing and advertising partners and does targeted advertising. It also says data from Apple Health, Health Connect and Samsung Health isn't used for ads. In 2018 MyFitnessPal disclosed a breach that affected about 150 million accounts and exposed usernames, email addresses and hashed passwords.
CalTrak has no accounts, keeps your food log on your phone, shows no ads and doesn't use your data for advertising. The privacy page has the details.

Switching from MyFitnessPal
CalTrak can't import MyFitnessPal history, so it's a fresh start. Run the goal wizard, then save your regular meals during the first week. Most people eat a lot of the same things, so it gets quick fast.
